The twenty two separate vineyards that comprise this year's Overlook include such distinguished growers as Sangaciomo, Bien Nacido, Martinelli, and Lorenzo. All the wines in the Overlook bottling are barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts and undergo full malo-latic fermentation. The wine is aged sur lie for nine months in Burgundian barrels and racked to tanks for blending. The aromas of toasted almonds, caramel, and coconut are followed by crisp green apple and lemon rind flavors that convey certain minerality. The acidity will pair well with seafoods and shellfish, and complement pastas with cream sauces, as well as roast chicken and pork roast with fruit.

Only 3 bottles left....first come first served. Our 2002 Alexander Valley, a blend of wine from several vineyards, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Temperatures were moderate for most of the season with budbreak and veraison occurring normally. On Labor Day weekend, the region experienced a typical Northern California heat wave, with temperatures rising into the low 100’s. Atypically, there was very low relative humidity for the next six weeks, resulting in an extraordinary concentration in the fruit that changed the character of the vintage. Harvest began on September 13th. Due to continued heat, a harvest that normally would have lasted six to eight weeks was completed in four. We aged the wine in barrel for approximately 25 months to harmonize its components, and another 15 months in bottle before release.
